Frequently Asked Questions about Training…
| You offer so many computer classes. Where should I start? |
If you have limited-to-no experience using a personal computer, you should start with Introduction to Windows. This course is recommended to all students regardless of their experience. Topics covered in that course are often overlooked by casual users and even some power users. From there, it is a matter of what you need to learn. Consult our course offerings for descriptions of courses of the most popular desktop-productivity applications. Finally, some of our courses list prerequisites. You should be confident in the topics listed in the course description for the prerequisite class before attempting the higher-level course.
| Is it necessary to take the prerequisites? |
Yes. To ensure a comfortable pace for the entire class, it is important that each person has the basic skills necessary. Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
| I have a little bit of experience. Do I need the Level I class? |
You really should consider the Level I class, even if you have basic experience. We design all of our classes to demonstrate the fastest, most effective and efficient way to complete tasks from a business standpoint. We teach many shortcuts and tips that most self-taught users wouldn't learn. Most people with "some" experience find the classes extremely helpful, as they can appreciate how it will help them improve their efficiency.
I need a specific class but it is not on your regular schedule. Can you offer it?
Usually, yes. Please call to inquire about courses not listed on the regular schedule. |
I have a lot of experience in (Word/Excel/PowerPoint, etc.) and find it difficult to find time to get away from the office, but there is 1 topic I would like some training on. Can you provide short training sessions on specific topics?
Yes, we offer Lunch ‘n Learn sessions and Coffee Break sessions. These 1 hour classes are designed for the “expert” user that just wants to know how to use a 1 certain function. These are fast paced and a good solid background in the application is required. Please see our schedule for our current 1-hour course offerings. |
My employees need training, but I cannot send them off-site for classes.
Can you come to my location?
Absolutely. As long as there is a sufficient training location available, we are happy to conduct the training at your facility. |
We have some specific training needs but are so busy that we cannot spare someone for an eight-hour class. What are my options?
We offer our classes in half-day increments just for people in your situation. Our “1-day” class is split into (2) Half Day classes. We also try to split this into 2 separate weeks so you are not out of the office twice in 1 week. Our 1-hour Lunch n’ Learn sessions may also fit your needs.
| On-site training sounds good, but isn't it more expensive? |
No. In most cases, the charges for on-site training are the same as our other offerings.
| In the past, we have sent our employees to training classes that turned out to be nothing more than lectures taught by trainers with little credibility. What makes you different? |
